Forensic Services

Dr. Coleman provides psychological and psychotherapeutic  services designed to bring hope, health, and harmony back into the lives of patients through positive and empowered change.

We offer specialized forensic psychology services including:

  • Psychological Assessments
  • Neuropsychological Testing
  • Disability Evaluations (e.g., workers compensation, personal injury, Social Security, residual mental capacity and competency evaluations)
  • Psychological Independent Medical Evaluations (psychological IMEs)
  • Geriatric and Dementia Mental Capacity Evaluations

We also provide psychological treatment services for individuals suffering with unremitting health problems, chronic pain, functional overlay, delayed recovery syndrome, or those demonstrating abnormal illness behavior.

Psychological Assessment

When an individual with a personal, medical or work-related injury fails to respond to standard medical treatment, or when pain becomes chronic and recovery stalls due to unexplained complications apart from obvious medical origins, an expensive and often frustrating process begins. This usually results in increased costs, reduced patient satisfaction, elevated risks, and prolonged case resolution.

Very often in prolonged and complex cases, it becomes difficult to differentiate between biological, psychological, emotional, motivational, and personality factors that account for the patient’s behavior, symptom profile, and functional constraints. That’s where we can help.

Dr. Coleman provides comprehensive psychological assessment services to insurance companies, employers, workers compensation specialists, medical doctors, and attorneys in order to untangle the sticky problems behind puzzling barriers in recovery, regression in functional improvement, and challenging patient behavior.

Our robust and empirically validated assessment methodology provides objective data and analysis on a comprehensive array of interrelated factors including:

  • Cognitive/Neuropsychological Functioning
  • Personality, Intelligence and Socio-cultural Variables
  • Mood and Anxiety Factors
  • Fear, Helplessness, and Adjustment Issues
  • Conscious and Unconscious Motivations
  • Malingering, Factitiousness, Symptom Exaggeration
  •  Primary/Secondary Gain Issues
  • Stress Management and Adaptive Functioning
  • Social and Relationship Problems
  • Substance Abuse and Coping Skills
  • Vocational Implications

Our assessment helps explain the patient’s delayed recovery, declines in previous functioning, and offers pragmatic recommendations for getting them back on track. We can also provide vocational assessments in combination with psychological and neuropsychological services that integrate patient data in useful and effective ways without having to use multiple experts and pay for redundant services.
